Jira dark mode: Light, Dark or Match browser

Updated 2026-11-02

Quick answerJira lets you change the theme from your personal settings, with three options: Light, which is the default, Dark, or Match browser to follow your browser's theme. Busy boards with many cards and colored labels are visually dense, so dark mode plus slight dimming can make them calmer to scan.

Change the theme

  1. Click your profile picture at the top right.
  2. Open Theme (or Personal settings > Theme).
  3. Choose Dark or Match browser.

Good to know

  • Light is Jira's default theme.
  • Migraine Mode adds what the site lacks: dimming, a soft-green tint, smart dark mode, frozen GIFs and blocked autoplay, all with one switch.
