Chromebook screen settings for migraine: Night Light and dark mode
Updated 2026-11-02
Quick answerOn a Chromebook, select the time at the bottom right, open Settings, then Device, Displays, and turn on Night Light. Adjust the color temperature and set a schedule: Sunset to sunrise or a custom time. Dark mode is in the wallpaper and style settings. These change the whole screen, not just websites.
Night Light
- Select the time at the bottom right, then Settings.
- In Device, select Displays.
- Turn on Night Light and adjust Color temperature.
- Under Schedule pick Sunset to sunrise or Custom.
Dark theme
- Right-click the desktop and choose Set wallpaper & style.
- Choose Dark or Auto.
Good to know
- Night Light makes the screen warmer; in Noseda 2016, amber light was not gentler than white, so use moderate warmth.

Not a medical device and not medical advice. Migraine Mode is a screen-comfort tool: it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent migraine or any other condition, and it does not replace a doctor. Its settings are based on studies of light, colour, flicker, patterns and motion; the extension itself has not been clinically tested. When to see a doctor.
